Eight children born at relief camps in a day in Karachi

KARACHI: At least eight babies were delivered at different relief camps in the city, while 50 patients were referred to various hospitals on Saturday, focal person for medical camps Dr Khalid Bukhari said in a statement.

There are eight camps in Gadap Town, and 1,366 patients were reported in their OPDs, where four babies were born, Bukhari said.

In Bin Qasim Town there were 10 camps and 1,222 patients were reported with one delivery, he said, adding, in two mobile camps in SITE area, 468 people reported at the OPD, and one baby was delivered.

In Gulshan-e-Iqbal one baby was delivered and at least 305 patients reported at the four medical camps established in the town, the doctor said, adding another baby was born at one of the seven medical camps in Keamari Town, where 520 patients were reported in the OPD.

There is only one medical camp and one mobile camp in Korangi Town, where 27 patients have been reported, Bukhari said.

The Sindh government has established 33 regular medical camps and three mobile camps in different areas of the city.
